Weddings and Memorials

People always say that family reunions always happen at weddings or funerals. We Borovacs had the luck (?) to have them both in one weekend. Hey - we're nothing if not efficient.

Bill and I were happy to make the trek to our old stomping grounds in Seattle for Nikki's wedding. She was even more stunning than she normally is, and we all had a wonderful time. When Owen first saw Nikki in her wedding dress, he asked Bill with a small amount of awe... 'Is she a princess???' And she was! Mackay, who actually was willing to sit through the ceremony with me while Bill and Owen were off looking at sheep in the neighboring farm, kept saying - quite loudly - 'When is the DANCING going to start?!'

But dance they did! And here's some proof.
Owen stayed entertained with the help of a big pink balloon that remained his dance partner for most of the evening.

When we weren't dancing, the kids were entertaining themselves with the chair decorations. Let it be said there is nothing you can't do with tulle!

On Monday morning, we had a brief get together to mark the passing of my Aunt Kathleen. She was always a free spirit, and I trust that her spirit is now truly free.

While it was a mix of happy and sad, I am glad that we were able to visit - always too briefly - with my wonderful and crazy Borovac family.
